The village of Hýsly is located 5km northeast of Kyjov in the vale of the Moštěnka Creek. On the creek, to the south of the village, there is a small pond and small impounds are being made north of Hýsly too. The vale’s eastern slopes are covered with extensive vineyards, to the south of the village there are orchards. Hýsly has 389 inhabitants and belongs to Moštěnka micro-region. An attractive monument is the column with a statue of St. John of Nepomuk * * *, from which you have an excellent view of Babí lom (quarry) and the Chřiby Hills. The manor in Dolní Moštěnice is not accessible due to its miserable condition. In the corner of its garden, on a small mound there grows a protected tree, European ash. In February there is a wine sample exhibition, in July St. Prokop’s Festival and at the end of September St. Wenceslau’s Festival. The folk costume worn here is called “northern Kyjov costume”. The children’s folklore group of Hýselánek is home at Hýsly. In 2005, the village was awarded The Blue Ribbon for its rich social life.
