Mouchnice

Mapa

Mouchnice is the northernmost village of the Kyjov region. It is situated 12 km north of Kyjov and only 2 km west of Koryčany. It has 355 inhabitants. In terms of tourism there is no call for this village, however the forested valley of the Kyjovka River southwest of the village is relatively sought-after. There is a railroad going through the valley and a train stop, Jestřabice, which is a well-known tourist starting point for hikes in the valley and the southernmost part of Ždánický forest. About 3 km north of the stop there is a children’s camp Haluzická Gamekeeper’s Lodge. It is here that Ždánický Forest Nature Trail ends. In the side valley, west of the Haluzická Gamekeeper’s Lodge is Bezdýnka * well and above the valley are found very well preserved moats and ramparts of an ancient fort *. Some 600 m east of the Lodge in a side valley behind the rail road stand charcoal piles. The village runs folklore festivals such as Traditional Leftovers and Traditional Cyril-Method Pilgrimage (5th July).
